Tevez: Decision to quit Manchester City is ‘mine alone’

The Blues striker has had his transfer request turned down, but admits his relationship with the club hierarchy is now “beyond repair”.

Manchester City have blamed Tevez’s advisor Kia Joorabchian in a statement which said: “The club remains disappointed by this situation and particularly with the actions of Carlos’ representative.

“The written transfer request is in stark contrast to Carlos’ stated position in both public and club contexts

“Carlos’ current five-year contract has three-and-a-half years to run and he is the highest paid player at the Manchester City.

“We can also confirm that the (transfer) request has been rejected but this is both an unfortunate and unwelcome distraction.

“The door remains open for Carlos to be selected to play.”

Tevez has defended Joorabchian, and insisted he alone made the decision. “I hugely resent the management’s suggestions that I have been unduly influenced by others,” said Tevez. “It was my decision and mine alone.

“I wanted to leave in the summer, but was convinced to return to the club. Sadly, my feelings have not changed.

“I am disappointed that the management should now see fit to try to portray the situation in another light.

Tevez joined the club from Manchester United in 2009. He has been seen as one of Mancini’s key players, especially as Emmanuel Adebayor is virtually certain to leave next month, and questions over Mario Balotelli’s temperament increased over the weekend.

Tevez has been quick to insist manager Roberto Mancini and owner Sheikh Mansour are not part of the fall-out, and has cited his desire to leave as personal anguish at being separated from his two young daughters who live in his native Argentina.
