Syria: Obama begins the hard sell

As John Kerry continues to try to gain EU support, lobbying of US Congress intensifies, graphic and distressing video is shown to senators and given to US television networks.

Viewers may find some scenes towards the beginning of this video to be disturbing.

US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in London on Sunday night after attempting to rally support for military strikes in Europe.

Across the Atlantic, the Obama administration faces a crucial test vote set for Wednesday in the senate. Barack Obama has scheduled a number of TV addresses in an attempt to win over public support at home. And graphic and distressing video has been shown to senators – and given to American TV – that has supposedly been verified by US authorities.

“This is not something reported in the news that you can disregard. Those videos make it clear to people that these are real human beings, real children,” said Mr Kerry.

But Syria’s President Bashar Assad has also given a TV interview, aired on a US network tomorrow, warning of retaliation if he is attacked and saying there’s no evidence he used Sarin gas.
