UK storms: wild seas soak Weymouth

Home Affairs Correspondent

We’ve been filming along the esplanade in Weymouth, currently subject to one of seven severe flood warnings stretching along the coast from Dorset to Cornwall.

A formidable southerly wind at high tide brought the sea smashes against the esplanade wall, but by and large the seafront remains accessible.

Police have been handing out sandbags for local residents, a road further along the Weymouth seafront remains closed, but this stretch of coastline appears to have escaped the more extreme conditions witnessed in parts of Cornwall.
