#Indyref campaigning – the good, the bad and the desperate?

As one poll puts the yes camp slightly ahead in the polls, both #indyref campaigns are now in overdrive. Channel 4 News readers sent us their favourite – and funniest – campaigning examples.

The faint whiff of desperation is in the air in Scotland with just 10 days to go until the country’s independence referendum.

With Labour voters appearing to be the ones shifting from no to yes, the party is sending a trio of big shots – Ed Miliband, Ed Balls and Gordon Brown – to various parts of the country this week.

The yes camp is also out in force and Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was out on the streets of Glasgow on Monday morning, trying to dispel Chancellor George Osborne’s promise of more powers for Scotland following a no vote.

With both campaigns heating up, Channel 4 News asked readers for their favourite campaign slogans, posters and memes, regardless of how effective they might be.

One tweeter pointed out an unfortunate attempt at promoting the yes campaign:

But not to be outdone, there seems to have been the odd #fail among the no voters as well.

And some people were offended by a Better Together video aimed at undecided mothers, with detractors calling it sexist and patronising. Within hours of the video being posted online, the actor even had her own hashtag – #PatronisingBTLady.

On the other side, the Better Together campaign has hit out at claims that voting no is unpatriotic. However one tweeter told Channel 4 News that the pro-union attempt to bring soldiers into the debate was “insulting”.

Take the quiz! #Indyref: so you think you're a YES/NO voter?
