The footage, available on the Imperial War Museum website, has been released online for the first time.
Stories include that of Mairi Chisholm and Elsie Knocker, two friends who bonded over a love of motorcycles and a determination to run their own hospital on the front line.
It forms part of a £40m revamp of the museum, with a new state-of-the-art gallery designed to tell the story of the great war for a wide audience.
