PETE WISHART, SNP, PERTH & NORTH PERTHSHIRE

Pete Wishart was elected as MP for North Tayside constituency in 2001, securing a majority of 3,282 over the Conservatives.

In the last session of Parliament, Pete was the SNP Group's Chief Whip and spokesperson on Transport, Local Government and the Regions, Culture Media and Sport, and the Highlands & Islands.

Pete is now the SNP candidate for the new constituency of Perth and North Perthshire. He is also the SNP's Campaign Director for the General Election.

Before entering politics Pete was a member of the successful Scottish band Runrig. He was also a member of Big Country.

Pete is a trained Community Worker and was Director of the Fast Forward charity, which promoted healthy lifestyles for young people. Formerly a member of the Scotland Against Drugs campaign committee, Pete has contributed to various national forums looking at problem drug use in Scotland.

Pete lives in Dunkeld in Perthshire. He has one son.
