Millionaires' Mission

The Series

The team at the equatorMillionaires' Mission has been some two years in the making. It is to Channel 4’s credit that they commissioned Silver River to make a high profile series about sustainable development which at first might not seem an obvious subject area for prime time television!

The process of selecting the Entrepreneurs involved Silver River approaching a number of individuals who we felt demonstrated the kind of skills set and innovative thinking needed for an adventurous project like this.

But whilst our choice of Entrepreneurs was vital, the series would not have got off the ground without the support of the international aid agency, World Vision. From the outset they were very open to the idea that there may be lessons to learn from giving a group of successful business people the opportunity to try and tackle some of the problems of poverty.

World Vision has been working in Uganda for the last 12 years and so in January 2006 eased the path for a motley crew of 50 production staff and 8 Entrepreneurs to film the series in a remote farming community in the south west of the country.
