Police given extra time to quiz April suspect

Police searching for the missing five year old April Jones have been given an extra 36 hours to question suspect Mark Bridger.

Dyfed-Powys police confirmed that they are still holding Mark Bridger in custody and have been given more time by magistrates to question him. At a news conference, police appealed for information about his whereabouts between 6.30 on Monday evening and 3.30 on Tuesday afternoon. They especially want to speak to people who saw him face to face or who may have had contact with him via social media.

Meanwhile, the search for April is continuing and now involves eight specialist police search teams, RAF mountain rescue teams, as well as RNLI and coastguard teams.

It emerged last night that April, who has now been missing for more than 60 hours, suffers from cerebral palsy and irritable bowel syndrome. She is reportedly supposed to be taking daily medication for her condition.

Desperate

April went missing on Monday at 7pm, after being seen getting into a vehicle, apparently of her own free will. Her mother Coral made a tearful appeal for information that could help find her daughter.

Speaking at a police press conference, she said: “There must be someone out there who knows where she is and can help the police find her.

“We are desperate for any news. April is only five years old. Please, please, help find her.”

Anyone who believes they have information is asked to contact police on 0300 2000 333.
