It is a bad day for employment prospects as 6, 000 jobs are being slashed in a dramatic restructuring by Centrica – who own British Gas. And 6,500 posts will go at the oil giant Royal Dutch Shell as bosses admitted they were “planning for a prolonged downturn”.
