Each of the bands will appear alongside other acts to represent Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on July 27 to coincide with the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

Duran Duran have been chosen to represent the best of English talent, while Snow Patrol will represent Northern Ireland. Stereophonics were selected to represent Wales, and Paulo Nutini will play for Scotland.

People attending the concert will be able to watch the London 2012 opening ceremony broadcast live on giant screens.

The closing ceremony of the Olympics has already been scheduled for August 12, and will feature Blur as the main act.
