Dramatic video shows biker rescued from burning car

Amateur video captures the moment a 21-year-old motorcyclist in Utah was dragged to safety by a crowd of people after his bike collided with a car.

Brandon Wright has thanked his rescuers after surviving the accident which left him with two broken legs, a fractured pelvis and burns and cuts to his feet and forehead.

The computing student was riding near Utah State University campus in Logan when he collided with a black BMW as it pulled out of a parking lot.

His bike hit the car’s hood and bounced to the ground, while Wright, who was not a wearing helmet, slid under the car before both vehicles burst into flames. Wright was pinned to the ground as the fire began to engulf the car.

He remembers being under the car, spitting up blood, and not being able to talk, and he said that he was really scared. Tyler Riggs

The video shows a crowd of around 10 people gathering around the crash scene and then rocking the car until it tilts up on its side. Once the vehicle is on two wheels, a spread-eagled Wright is pulled to safety.

Tyler Riggs, Brandon’s uncle, spoke to reporters about his nephew’s recovery.

He said: “He does remember the crash happening, and he said that he remembers being under the car, spitting up blood, and not being able to talk, and he said that he was really scared.”

Chris Garff, a media production specialist for the college, caught the rescue on video. He was shooting a promotional video for the college when he looked out of the window and saw black smoke billowing from the road.
