Channel 4 has announced that its award winning news programme will now be available on demand through 4oD.

Accessible through the 4oD website, or through the iPad app, Channel 4 News’ weekday programmes will now be available for 24 hours after the flagship 7pm bulletin is broadcast.

With 215 million long-form video views in the first half of 2011, Channel 4 remains the biggest commercial broadcaster in the UK VoD Market – and this is the latest addition to the list of programmes available online. It comes at the same time as a refresh of 4oD at Channel4.com, and the launch of a host of new features all geared towards enhancing the user experience.

New features include a fast and efficient predictive search and viewer driven recommendations, which significantly improve the discoverability of content in the extensive archive.

The all new 4oD will also include ‘My 4oD’ for the first time, where registered users can sign in to access a number of enhanced features, helping them to manage and create their own on demand experience.

Channel 4 News’ arrival on 4oD follows the launch of its app for iPads and iPhones, which provide the best of the day’s news and analysis from the flagship 7pm bulletin.

Martin Fewell, Deputy Editor, Channel 4 News says: “People who watch the programme outside of our scheduled slot are becoming an important part of our audience. We know that our viewers tend to be tech-savvy, and we want to make it easier for them to join us at their convenience, so it’s good to be joining the best of Channel 4 on 4oD.”

Vicky Taylor, Commissioning Editor New Media; News and Current Affairs at Channel 4 News adds: “4oD is the most successful commercial player in the UK VoD market, and it is steadily growing. It makes sense that Channel 4 News, a cornerstone of the schedule, is also available through that platform, in addition to the catch-up options provided by our app and by the Channel 4 News website.”
