Washington DC police hurt in dramatic car chase

Three officers are injured in a car chase in Fairfax, outside Washington DC, involving a woman in a silver pick-up truck.

Three police officers were injured in Washington after a dramatic car chase involving at least four police vehicles.

The chase occurred this morning during morning rush hour traffic, and the driver was only arrested after her car was clipped by police officers and eventually surrounded.

Aerial footage shows the silver pick-up truck speeding past other vehicles and driving onto the median. At one point, the truck spins into oncoming traffic. Police officers with guns drawn eventually surround the truck and pull the driver from it, placing her on the ground.

The driver was identified by police as 36-year-old Lakisha Tracy, who refused to stop when police attempted to pull her over near Route 50 in Fairfax, a suburb outside Washington DC.

Police said the driver was wanted for credit card theft, forgery and other driving related forces, according to NBC News.

Armed officers and a dog then forcibly removed her from her vehicle before taking her into custody. The three police officers were taken to hospital. None of their injuries are thought to be life-threatening.
