British families ‘more worried’ about money

As Britain posts sluggish growth figures, a new poll shows British households are becoming increasingly worried about their personal finances.

About 56 per cent of people polled in an ITV News survery spoke of rising financial concerns. That compares to 50 per cent last month, and 43 per cent last October.

The findings came as Chancellor George Osborne vowed to stick by his austerity measures despite a slowdown in the pace of the UK’s economic recovery.

Siobhan Kennedy filed this report from the British town of Bedford, where families say they are tightening their belts to cope with financial strain.
