Biography
As arts producer and director for Channel 4 News Stephanie West has covered the Big Brother racism row, Madonna's adoption of a Malawian child, and has conducted many interviews - from Borat to David Hasselhoff to Leonardo de Caprio.
Stephanie started out as a general news reporter/producer at LBC in the early 90s. There she covered the release of the Birmingham Six and went to Northern Iraq to report on the Kurdish refugee crisis.
Then in 1993 she moved to Los Angeles and developed a passion for music and film industry stories.
She covered the OJ Simpson trial, Michael Jackson child abuse allegations and the deaths of Kurt Cobain and River Phoenix.
She became the LA correspondent for BBC Radio 5 Live's Arts and Entertainment News, which won a Sony Award, and came back to work for the station in London, from where she covered the Cannes, Venice and Edinburgh Festivals.
In music, she covered the rise of Britpop, Glastonbury and the Grammys, with interviews ranging Blur to the Bee Gees, via Bruce Springsteen.
She's made several music documentaries including "Band Aid 20" and "Bono's Millions" for BBC One and she developed the Emmy-nominated "John Peel's Record Box" for Channel 4.
In 2001 Stephanie went back to LA to set up a bureau for BBC Liquid News, from where she covered Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign to become governor, Michael Jackson's arrest, Winona Ryder's shoplifting trial and Coldplay cracking America.
To date she's covered eleven Oscar ceremonies. Her first film interview was with Anthony Hopkins for The Silence of the Lambs, and her most recent Helen Mirren for The Queen.
Inbetween she's spoken to most of the key players: from Steven Spielberg to Harvey Weinstein, Martin Scorsese to Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman to Al Pacino and Robert Redford.
