Channel 4 begins a special series of reports exploring the challenges facing India during its fast changing development. Krishnan Guru-Murthy writes.
Biography
Krishnan presents Channel 4 News from Friday to Sunday and is also the main anchor of the Channel 4 News at Noon.
He joined the team in 1998 after ten years at the BBC presenting, reporting and producing on a variety of programmes from "Newsnight" to "Newsround".
During that time he covered everything from wars and disasters to politics and pop music.
His broadcasting career started in his gap year before Oxford University when an appearance on BBC 2's youth discussion programme "Open to Question" led to him taking over as the programme's presenter.
As well as anchoring Channel 4 News, Krishnan has been around Britain and the world reporting for the programme, from the Kashmir conflict to American politics and from the Omagh bombing in Northern Ireland to earthquakes in India and Turkey.
He presented much of Channel 4's special coverage of the 9-11 attacks, the Afghan and Iraq wars and the Asian Tsunami.
He has reported extensively from India over the years and made several special programmes there. He also covered the Indian train bombings in February 2007 and the Mumbai hotel attacks in November 2008.
Krishnan also presents The TV Show, Channel 4's monthly programme in which viewers discuss television with producers and has fronted a variety of other programmes for Channel 4 including "The Autopsy", "Britain's Deadliest Addictions" and "Going Cold Turkey".
