A science teacher has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an attack which left a Mansfield schoolboy with serious head injuries. Darshna Soni reports.

Biography

Darshna Soni is our midlands correspondent. She is an RTS award-winner and multiple award nominee.

Darshna's area of interest is home affairs and she has broken a number of exclusive stories in this area. Highlights include an investigation in the deaths of 21 cockle pickers in Morecambe Bay and reports into the death of Zahid Mubarek at Feltham Young Offenders Institute.

Darshna has also reported on the goverment's Respect agenda and the impact ASBOs have on young children. She recently covered the controversy surrounding the terror raids in Birmingham.

Darshna came to us from BBC London News, where she worked as West London reporter.

Whilst there, she broke a number of exclusive stories including the desecration of a Muslim body at Hillingdon Hospital mortuary. Darshna won this year's RTS (London) award for best news story.

Prior to her career in journalism, Darshna worked for the late Bernie Grant MP and then managed the Global Trade Centre in North London, which helps small businesses here trade with small businesses in Africa and the Caribbean.
