WWII destroyer found in Fjord
Updated on 05 March 2008
The wreck of a Royal Navy destroyer sunk by the German navy in 1940 with the loss of more than 100 lives has been found in a Norwegian fjord.
The location of HMS Hunter had remained a mystery until the Norwegian minehunter HNOMS TYR found her during a training operation.
The minehunter was participating in the multi-national exercise when its echo sounder revealed the sunken vessel lying 305 metres underwater, the Ministry of Defence said.
