Updated on 14 October 2008
World markets have soared for a second day, led by a record 14% jump in Tokyo.
It came after Wall Street rallied from its worst week ever on optimism that government rescue efforts will heal the crippled global financial system.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index surged 14.1 %, to close at 9,447.57, its biggest single-day gain in history and a stunning reversal after the index plunged 24% last week.
