Exclusive: A conservation campaign from the Dalai Lama persuades Tibetans to give up endangered fur. But as the tiger skins burn the Chinese move in.

They're worth thousands of pounds. But Tibetans have been burning rare animal skins - including those of tigers - after a call from their exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.

He wants an end to the trade in endangered creatures. Channel Four News has gained exclusive footage from Tibet, from an area called Nawa in the Amdo province.

The film shows people burning animal pelts: but shortly afterwards, nine of the participants were arrested by the Chinese authorities.
