Rove's fourth court appearance

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 14 October 2005

Karl Rove has been forced to appear for the fourth time before a court investigating claims that he wilfully leaked the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

The allegation? That Rove was trying to punish Plame's husband - the diplomat Joseph Wilson - after Wilson accused the Bush team of fabricating the case for war in Iraq.

Rove's not the only senior aide implicated - Scooter Libby, the Vice President's chief of Staff, also faces possible criminal charges.

Our Washington correspondent Jonathan Rugman reports.
