Reward offered for missing medals
Updated on 04 December 2007
A British peer who owns the world's biggest collection of Victoria Cross valour medals is offering a reward for the return of stolen medals.
Michael Ashcroft said he is willing to pay out a £74,000 reward for the return of nine medals taken from a New Zealand army museum.
New Zealand officials said they were considering Lord Michael Ashcroft's offer but were discussing it with police before accepting, with Prime Minister Helen Clark noting such rewards sometimes serve as an incentive for further thefts.
