'Progress needed' in Middle East
Updated on 10 December 2008
If progress on solving the Arab-Israeli conflict is not made next year "the prospect of a two-state solution will slip away", Foreign Secretary David Miliband has warned.
He said, on the resumption of the Commons debate on last week's Queen's Speech, that 2009 offers "unique dangers and opportunities in foreign affairs".
"It needs to be a decisive year in the Arab Israeli conflict," he told MPs. "I fear that unless it is the prospect of a two-state solution will slip away."
