A New York court has been shown a video in which the personal assistant to punk rock pioneer and ex-Ramones manager Linda Stein admitted beating her to death.

Weeping, Natavia Lowery says on the tape "I wasn't myself" when she snatched a stick from Ms Stein and struck her on the head in 2007.

Lowery said Ms Stein, 62, angered her by swearing and blowing marijuana smoke in her face. She has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
