The families of the two security guards, were informed of their death this morning.

It leaves one IT consultant and two more guards still held hostage in Iraq.

Jason Swindlehurst, from Skelmersdale in Lancashire and Jason Creswell, from Glasgow, were among five Britons abducted by gunmen in Baghdad more than two years ago.

Tonight Gordon Brown sent his condolences to their families and called for the three remaining hostages to be released "immediately".

Alex Thomson is joined by Will Geddes, founder of International Corporate Protection - an international threat management company which is active in Iraq.
