Snowmail: Israel renews air raids
Updated on 28 December 2008
The deteriorating situation in the Gaza strip dominates the programme.
With Israeli warplanes continuing air strikes across the Palestinian territory more than 280 people are now reported dead; and possibly a thousand are injured.
Our international editor, Lindsey Hilsum, will be reporting live from the Gaza border tonight and Carl Dinnen is focussing on the growing international condemnation of the Israeli military operation - both diplomatic and popular, including a protest in central London.

Bishops condemn government
Here, James Blake reports on the Church of England's strongly-worded attack on the government, given in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph newspaper today. The Bishops of Durham, Winchester, Manchester, Carlisle and Hulme, have criticised ministers over the scale of debt in the government's rescue plans for the economy.
"Beguiled by money" and "morally corrupt" are the scathing accusations, and the bishops have expressed grave concern over the scale of family breakdown and debt in this country.
Hollywood plunders the past
For those of you who thought Christmas Day's Doctor Who special had rather shabbily plundered old sci-fi movies in its teetering giant cyberman (King Kong, Godzilla, Quatermass and the Pit, and even Ghostbusters, to name but four) our arts reporter, Stephanie West, finds Hollywood too is seeking to remake or renew classics from the 60s and 70s.
As well as the new Star Trek prequel (young Spock! young Kirk! young Uhura!) a dozen remakes set for next year include...Logan's Run, Westworld and (still not metric) Fahrenheit 451. Trapped in a time warp or ripe for regeneration?
In the sport
We have a full round up of the sport. The Premier League action today included top of the league Liverpool thrashing Newcastle 5-1.
