He was executed just before dawn in Baghdad, his final moments filmed, the pictures then released.
Saddam Hussein is shown entering the death chamber, surrounded by his masked executioners. A hangman places a noose around his neck, before the video halts.
More grainy film of Saddam's corpse appeared later, his head at a lopsided angle to his body.
