Iraq: five years, five films

By Channel 4 News

Updated on 18 March 2008

Five films chosen by the Channel 4 News foreign unit that dig beneath the war's troubled surface.

Since the Iraq invasion began, Channel 4 News has presented a succession of extended reports about the conflict.

In two films, one from 2003 and another from 2007, we followed US troops as they waged war on the insurgency. In another piece, from 2004, we asked why America was failing to win the battle for the hearts and minds of Iraq people.

We also travelled to the United States to ask badly wounded soldiers if they thought their physical sacrifice had been justified or in vain.

And in a personal report, Ali Fadhil, a US-bound Iraqi doctor, questioned whether the war had really been worth fighting for if all the peace had to offer was reality TV shows in which participants are exposed for misdeeds committed under Saddam Hussein's rule.
