Iran police use tear gas on protesters

Police in Tehran use tear gas and batons to disperse opposition supporters as Iran marks the 30th anniversary of the storming of the US embassy. Jonathan Rugman reports.

Three decades ago the revolutionaries chanted "death to America".
Today witnesses said protesters were shouting "Down with Ahmadinejad" and "Down with the dictator".
Opposition rallies have taken place in Tehran and in at least seven other cities, including Isfahan, Shiraz and the holy city of Qom.
