The Independent Police Complaints Commission will investigate Sir Ian Blair's conduct after the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was killed the day after the failed London bombings in July when he was mistaken for a suicide bomber.
The Menezes family claims Sir Ian misled them and the public about what happened. The investigation - which is not part of the ongoing inquiry into the shooting - has been welcomed by the Metropolitan Police.
