Men shot dead in US toy store

Two men have shot each other to death in a crowded US toy store.

The violence erupted on Black Friday, the traditional post-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping surge.

Riverside County sheriff's Sergeant Dennis Gutierrez said the fight in the Toys "R" Us store in Palm Desert, around 120 miles east of Los Angeles, was not over a toy and handguns had been found by the men's bodies.

Witnesses said a fight had broken out between two women near the checkout area and that one woman began punching the other woman.

Two men who were with the women pulled out guns and began chasing each other through the store, shooting at each other.

Toys "R" Us issued a statement expressing outrage over the violence, saying: "We are working closely with local law enforcement officials to determine the specific details of what occurred.

"Our understanding is that this act seems to have been the result of a personal dispute between the individuals involved. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to associate the events of today with Black Friday."
