Make Gaza a priority, Obama urged

Updated on 11 January 2009

David Cameron has called on US President-elect Barack Obama to put the conflict in Gaza at the top of his agenda and help "drain the swamp of angry Muslim opinion" across the world.

The Tory leader called for a ceasefire on both sides and described the television images of dead children as "horrific".

And he said Egypt could play a "key role" by destroying the tunnels used by Hamas to ferry supplies and weapons into Gaza.
