Bogged down by Iraq, tainted by scandal and mired in rock-bottom ratings - President Bush has been spring cleaning his White House staff in an effort to turn his fortunes around.

The latest to step down is White House spokesman Scott McLellan - dubbed 'the most exposed man in America' over his daily maulings at the hands of the Washington press.

And Mr Bush's most trusted advisor, Karl Rove, is giving up his policy role to focus on more political priorities.

With a new chief of staff now installed in the West Wing, can any amount of staff changes give the President the boost he needs?
