Islamist jailed for boat murders
Updated on 04 October 2007
An Islamic militant was sentenced to 15 years in jail for killing two Christians during an attack on a passenger boat.
Judges in Indonesia said Sulthon Qolbi was a member of Kompak, an Islamic militant group that took part in fighting between Christians and Muslims in the eastern Maluku island chain between 1999 and 2002.
The group kept up occasional attacks against Christian targets after the war ended.
