Hershey ups Kraft bid for Cadbury
Updated on 21 November 2009
US firm Hershey may make a 17 billion US dollar (£10.3bn) bid for Cadbury, topping the recent 16.5 billion US dollar hostile offer by Kraft Foods, the Wall Street Journal has reported.
The bid wouldn't be ready for two weeks and the terms are in flux, the newspaper said.
But the charitable trust that controls the company and has complicated Hershey's merger efforts in the past is now prodding chief executive officer David West to beat Kraft's offer, the Journal reports.
