Harman stripped of reform powers

The constitutional affairs minister, Harriet Harman, has been stripped of her responsibilities for overseeing electoral and House of Lords reform.

It comes after the "cash for peerages" row.
Ms Harman is married to the Labour treasurer, Jack Dromey, who last night called for an inquiry into how he and other elected party officials had been "kept in the dark" about millions of pounds worth of loans from wealthy supporters.
A spokesman for the Department for Constitutional Affairs said: "Ms Harman was the one who asked to be relieved of the responsibility for electoral
administration to make sure that there wasn't any conflict of interest."
