Gaza gets beefy start to holiday
Updated on 09 November 2009
Israel has eased its tight blockade of the Gaza Strip to let in thousands of cattle ahead of a major Muslim holiday.
Around 3,000 cattle began moving into Gaza last week in a goodwill gesture before the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The holiday will be celebrated in late November. During Eid al-Adha - Arabic for "the festival of the sacrifice" - believers traditionally feast on lamb and beef.
