Gay western Brokeback Mountain has garnered seven nominations for the Golden Globe awards.

The nominations include best actor for Heath ledger and best director for Ang Lee.

The Hollywood Foreign presss association which selects the Golden Globes, only has 90 or so members.

And this year - they've chosen to ignore two key pictures for best drama - Peter Jackson's King Kong - already much admired by British critics and Stepeven spileburg's Munich.

As usual, the British squeeze in with a few acting nominations - Judi Dench for the BBC produced - Mrs Henderson Ppresents. The movie surprisingly also gets a nod for best film musical or comedy.

And Keira Knightley also gets a best actress nomination for Pride and Prejudice.
