Children aged as young as four are being weighed and measured in school from today as part of a government anti-obesity campaign.

The Health Department confirmed the move as the burger chain, McDonald's, unveiled its latest product - a sandwich even bigger than the Big Mac - as part of a World Cup promotion.

The promotion rather undermines the company's previous fanfare for the introduction of "healthier options" in its restaurants, partly in response to books like "Fast Food Nation" and the film "Super Size Me".

The author of "Fast Food Nation", Eric Schlosser - who releases his new book this week - is here for his first television interview in Britain.
