EU issues climate change warning

The floods in Britain are a grim warning of Europe's need to "adapt or die" in the face of global warming, the European Commission has warned.
Environment commissioner Stavros Dimas said that while Britain coped with the crisis over flooding, southern Europe was faced with a heatwave which was claiming the lives of many people.
It was all evidence that the scientists have got it right when they warn of dramatic climate change, he insisted.
