Eight killed as building collapses

Updated on 06 July 2008

Source PA News

The Xinhua News Agency said eight people have been killed in the collapse of a four-story building under construction in central China.

Xinhua said 100 rescuers are searching for missing workers. It is unclear how many people were on the site when the building collapsed on Saturday in a suburb of Wuhan city.

Xinhua said 13 people have been rescued from the rubble and taken to hospitals. Large equipment is having trouble getting to the site because of narrow alleyways in the neighbourhood.
