Don't meddle, Karzai warns allies

President Hamid Karzai has insisted Afghanistan will never be "a puppet state".
He urged the international community against meddling in its politics in the run-up to a presidential election in August this year.
Meanwhile, Nato chief Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said the alliance needed four more battalions (3,200 troops) to provide security for the election.
