Diamonds sold in some UK stores may be funding armed conflict in Africa.

That's according to Amnesty International, who say stones mined in rebel-held areas of Ivory Coast are the latest to reach the international market.

All sectors of the diamond industry have signed up to a warranty system to try to ensure that jewels can be tracked right up to point of sale.

Ahead of Valentine's Day, Amnesty is urging shoppers to ask sales staff whether their diamonds are conflict-free.
