Democratic Senator Bayh to retire
Updated on 16 February 2010
Senator Evan Bayh, a centrist Democrat from a Republican-leaning state who was on Barack Obama's short-list of vice presidential candidate prospects in 2008, has announced he will not seek another term.

Democrats are still recovering from Republican Scott Brown's stunning January upset to take the late Edward Kennedy's long-held seat in Massachusetts.
