Car giant emerges from bankruptcy

US car giant General Motors has emerged from bankruptcy, relaunching itself as a streamlined and more customer-focused firm.
The "new" GM will be primarily owned by the US government and will focus on marketing its core brands such as Cadillac and Chevrolet.
Fritz Henderson, president and chief executive of General Motors, said it marked an "exciting day" for the company.
