Businessman kidnap risk 'growing'

International businessmen face an ever greater risk of being kidnapped, according to a new report.

From Somalian pirates targeting the shipping industry to Nigerian gangs abducting oil workers, kidnap for ransom has become a "global phenomenon", risk consultancy Control Risks said.

And in 2009 new kidnap "hotspots" will emerge as the number of incidents around the world increases, the company predicted.
