Updated on 26 September 2007
A British man and his Malaysian wife have become the first in Malaysia to be charged with operating an internet investment scam.
It comes as authorities crack down on online fraudsters.
Bryan John Marsden, 59, and Phan Sew Ken, 55, pleaded not guilty in a Kuala Lumpur court on Tuesday to illegally collecting deposits through two internet-based companies between 2004 and 2005, said Fahmi Abdul Moin, prosecuting officer with central Bank Negara.
