Officials say rescue workers have found the bodies of two more passengers of a river boat that sank a week ago in a remote Amazon region in northern Brazil, bringing the death toll to 48.

Fire department spokesman Emerson Miranda said at least 60 passengers survived the accident and that as many as six may still be missing.

Passengers on the two-storey wooden ferryboat were on their way home from a Roman Catholic festival when the ferry capsized in a pre-dawn rainstorm on the Amazon river.
