Billionaire Silvio Berlusconi has been sworn in following his Conservatives' sweep in elections last month.

The 71-year-old media magnate read the oath of office in the ornate presidential Quirinal Palace then signed it in front of Italy's head of state, Giorgio Napolitano.

Mr Berlusconi's resounding victory in April 13-14 elections has given him a comfortable majority in both the Senate and lower Chamber of Deputies.
