Air strikes against Tamil Tigers

The Sri Lankan government has launched air strikes against Tamil Tiger bases.

It followed yesterday's suicide bombing that killed a hundred people.

The attack hit a convoy near the town of Habarana, about 120 miles northeast of the capital Colombo.

Despite the bloodshed, the government said it was committed to peace talks in Geneva at the end of this month - although an official warned: "Don't expect the world."
